From South Plantation High School’s School News
"Community support has been overwhelming. Donations at performances, sponsorships from organizations like the Plantation Woman’s Club, and support from City Commissioner Jennifer Andreu and Miramar City Commissioner Winston Barnes have been instrumental.”
South Plantation HS School Band Marches to National Spotlight in Washington, DC. Their band, The Royal Regiment, is set to perform on the national stage this Fourth of July in the prestigious Independence Day Parade.
Our Club has graciously donated $2,918.00 to help send two band students to Washington, DC to perform and make us proud. Our Club has been giving back and supporting to the schools in the City of Plantation since 1960.

Member donations to the Tiger Buck Store and F.L.I.T.E.
At the March general meeting I received three big tote bags of goodies for our students. Once again, I am overwhelmed with your generosity. With the help of each of you I believe we are a huge success with the students and the school.

We are delighted to announce that Ann Polley was awarded second place in the acrylic painting category. Congratulations Ann! We are very proud of our PWC members’ accomplishments.
Don’t forget…if you’re a sewer, painter, weaver, potter, photographer, or any other type of artist or crafter we encourage you to start creating so you can be in the next Arts & Crafts competition coming in January 2026. Contact Jan Heinrich for details.

PWC’s Volunteer of the Year for 2024 - Claire Clemente
Our club’s volunteer of the year for 2024 has been a member for only four years, but she has stepped up repeatedly in multiple ways. Some of the comments made about this member are as follows:
· As Ways and Means Chair, she ran our Boosters program for the whole year. She changed the way they were presented to the members each month by creating a theme, making it more fun and encouraging greater participation. She also was a regular contributor to the program
· She brought the Got Sneakers campaign to the Club in 2023 and continued to manage it during all of 2024, including
creating collection points at Plantation High School and multiple locations throughout the city.
· On her own initiative, she established and chaired another fundraising opportunity for the Club by developing a relationship with a cruise agent whereby members who book cruises through this agent will generate donations to the Club.
· She chaired the summer Quarter Auction, another successful fundraiser, and also lots of fun.
· She headed the raffle basket committee for the 2024 Not Your Mama’s Craft Fair. This is a huge and extremely challenging task, requiring coordination of the display of the raffle items, drawing the winning tickets and then notifying the winners and supervising the actual collection of the raffle items by the winners. Most of you undoubtedly saw the raffle set up for the Craft Show, but unless you were directly involved in the process, you really can’t begin to imagine how many moving parts are involved and how challenging this task is.
· She attended council meetings and the Women’s Health & Wellness Forum, where she represented our Club and
although she was not the person responsible for the raffle at our Volunteer of the Year event last year, she was right there, helping in any way she could.
· She attended nearly all of the board and general meetings during the year and contributed monthly articles for our
beautiful newsletter.
By now, I’m sure most of you have realized that the 2024 Volunteer of the Year for the Plantation Woman’s Club is Claire Clemente. Congratulations, Claire, on an honor well deserved. We will all look forward to celebrating you and your many accomplishments at our luncheon on Saturday, April 5.

A REAL Senior Moment - March Spotlight
I want to thank Eirene Stansbury for being our second young at heart senior to have A REAL Senior Moment
during the March general meeting.
Eirene is 94 years young!
She said she loves being a part of the woman's club and wishes she had joined sooner. She has been with the Club since 2011. She found this Club when she was 80!! I hope I have that much spunk when I turn 80. LOL
I always say that Eirene is made of sugar, don’t let her get caught in the rain she will surely melt. Find out for yourself and say hi to Eirene during our next meeting.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Socials
The “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” team consists of Barbara Lee and Marcy Brennan. So far there have been several Fun Social times set up by these two. Above shows two separate times our Club ladies went to Legends Trivia Night and had a blast.
Two other times, they have set up breakfast at Webby’s in Plantation. Everyone who has attended these new socials have really enjoyed themselves.
Please look for email blasts for future socials from Barbara and Marcy. They are definitely a fun duo!
We all need a little fun in our lives, right ladies?
