~ Education ~
If you were able to attend our April meeting you got to meet 5 of our 6 scholarship recipients. We had an overwhelming response this year with 26 scholarship applications. It was very difficult to narrow it down to just six. Our recipients were:
· MacKenzie Osennkowski who attends Nova High School and will be attending Florida
Atlantic University this fall.
· Nicole Miranda who will be graduating from South Plantation High School and attending the
University of South Florida.
· Cara Kulhanjian who currently attends the
College Academy at Broward College and will attend the University of Florida.
· Cassidy Stumer who attends South Plantation High School currently but will be joining the
student body at the University of Florida this fall.
· Nia Lue who is enrolled at St. Thomas Aquinas and will be going to the University of Florida for the fall semester.
· Jamelia Fletcher who goes to Pembroke Pines Charter School and who was accepted at the
University of North Florida.
Congratulations to our 2023 scholarship recipients!

Announcement of our Volunteer of the Year for 2022
Nancy Dzoba
As the 2021 Woman of the Year winner, I am now honored to share with you our 2022 Volunteer of the Year winner.
As you know, we have decided to rename this Award to allow other organizations in our community a chance to recognize a Volunteer of the year - be it a woman or a man. As a reminder, the now Volunteer of the Year is selected by ALL previous Women winners of the past years. Each member is encouraged to bring a nomination form and I assure you it was all work and no play or eating until we all agreed upon the winner. I didn’t realize how passionate this group of women were and how serious this position is to them. Having gone thru the full circle of winning and now selecting, I am even more humbled and thrilled to name our new winner. This a lady is all over the place. When I say all over, I mean, there isn’t a function she hasn’t had her hand in for many years in a row. The bullet points on her nomination form kept going, 35 bullets to be exact. Pages of amazing things. Just for a moment, think of what this means. Who would do five special things for the club each year? How about 20 to 30, now 35 separate project leads, project co-leads and volunteered time and without fail? - this Club Heroine never lets us down. If you’re struggling to perfect an event or a program? … she’s got your back. Even sick she was again stepping up to the plate. She has been truly amazing! You won’t have to guess because with no further ado…. Our 2022 Volunteer of the Year ……. Nancy Dzoba. Nancy, you are truly an amazing spirit. You are: · The doggie palooza chair · LEADS representative for our club · Woman’s History co-chair · Co-chair for the WOY/VOY Celebration on 4/29 · Not Your Mama’s Craft Fair Co-chair · Chair for the Easter Egg Hunt · Property Manager · Chair for starting a reading program thru the Educational Society · Education Co-chair · 2022 sworn in as our 1st VP for 2023 You represented our club at two conventions in 2022, District 13 meetings, five rock the park events, 2022 bike distribution program and accepted an award by the city on behalf of the club. Out of pocket donations to only name a few: doggie bandanas, candy for children during the parades, and donated her 50/50 winning to Camp Boggy Creek. Donated hours….. · Event set ups and take downs · Mentor for new members · Decorated tree at the Historical Museum · Right arm for Not Your Momma’s Craft Fair Her new nick name should be “behind the scenes Nancy” as she makes every event perfect. Nancy, we cannot thank you enough for all that you do for our club. Karinne Bernstein 2021 Woman of the Year |
